WHAT IS SDA

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is a type of housing specifically designed for people with extreme functional impairments or very high support needs. Funded under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

SDA aims to provide specialized, adaptive living spaces that facilitate better support and increased independence. These accommodations are tailored with features such as wheelchair accessibility, emergency systems, and custom fittings to enhance the quality of life for residents. Eligibility for SDA is determined based on individual needs assessments, ensuring that the housing solutions align closely with the unique requirements of each participant.

SIL

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a service under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) designed to assist people with disabilities in living independently. SIL offers customized, ongoing support within a shared or individual living arrangement, focusing on skill-building for daily tasks such as personal care, meal preparation, and money management. It also encompasses support for community participation and social engagement. The level of support varies according to individual needs, ranging from a few hours a week to 24/7 care. SIL aims to empower individuals with disabilities to lead more independent, fulfilling lives while receiving the necessary support for their unique challenges.
